buzzter — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 September 2026

buzzter is a wireless buzzer system for in-person events. It is built to hold as little about you as possible, and this policy is short because there is little to describe.

1. We do not have accounts

buzzter has no sign-up, no sign-in, and no user accounts. You are never asked for an email address, a phone number, or a password, because there is nothing to attach them to.

2. What the app sends while you play

To join a room you type a room code and a display name. Both are sent to the buzzter server so the host's screen can show who buzzed and in what order, along with the timing measurements the app takes to rank buzzes.

All of it is ephemeral. The server holds a room only while that room is running; when the host ends the game, or the room is retired, the room and everyone in it are discarded. Nothing is written to a database, and there is no game history to look back at. A display name is whatever you typed for that one session — it is not linked to you, to your device, or to any previous session.

3. Subscriptions

Hosting a room requires a subscription. Purchases are handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play, and are managed on our behalf by RevenueCat. We never see or receive your payment details.

Because buzzter has no accounts, your subscription is identified by an anonymous identifier that RevenueCat generates for the installation. It is not derived from your name, your email, or any identifier you gave us — we do not have any of those. It is used for one thing: answering "may this device open a room?"

Apple, Google and RevenueCat handle that purchase data under their own privacy policies: Apple, Google, RevenueCat.

4. The help form

If you write to us through the app's help form, your message is delivered by Web3Forms, a service that turns that submission into an email to us. It carries the topic and message you wrote, an app version and device OS for diagnostics, and a reply email address only if you choose to give one. Web3Forms holds no account of yours and nothing tying the message back to you beyond what you typed.

Web3Forms handles that submission under its own privacy policy: Web3Forms.

5. What we do not do

6. Deleting your data

There is no account to delete and no stored personal data to erase — ending a game discards the room. To end a subscription, cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account; the app links you there directly.

The only records that outlive a session are the purchase records held by Apple, Google and RevenueCat to keep your subscription working. To request deletion of those, email buzzter@purware.dev with the subject line "Delete my data". Deleting your purchase records may end an active subscription.

7. Changes

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
